FIX NextGen brings together early-career professionals to learn, connect, and grow within the FIX Trading Community, building a strong pipeline of future contributors and leaders.

The FIX Next Generation Initiative is designed to secure the long-term strength and leadership of the FIX Trading Community by actively engaging and developing early-career professionals. Its core purpose is to bring new talent into the FIX ecosystem, ensuring a robust pipeline of future working group co-chairs, contributors, and industry leaders.

Purpose

Sustain and grow the FIX volunteer community by attracting members with fewer than 10 years’ financial services experience.

Prepare the next generation of FIX leaders, including future co-chairs and members of the Global Steering Committee.

Foster long-term engagement across global markets, ensuring FIX continues to benefit from diverse perspectives and fresh ideas.

Core Objectives

Equip emerging professionals with foundational and advanced knowledge of:

  • FIX Protocol fundamentals (e.g., “FIX 101” trade lifecycle sessions)
  • Market structure and industry roles through webinars, podcasts, and expert sessions
  • Communication, networking, and conference presentation skills

Create meaningful, cross-firm, cross-region connections by:

  • Running mentoring schemes, networking events, and “speed networking” at FIX conferences
  • Creating meaningful peer-to-peer and cross-firm connections within member organisations
  • Building active regional communities, including London, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and India

Offer hands‑on opportunities to:

  • Contribute to planning and delivering FIX events
  • Engage with working groups and regional committees
  • Participate in discussions on emerging topics such as AI in financial services and regulatory developments
